Compassionate Care, Day and Home Services Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this notice. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 16990831, at Unit 7–9 Bridge Court, Castle Street, Totnes, Devon, TQ9 5DB.

What this notice covers

This notice is about the information you give us through this website — mainly the enquiry form on the contact section, and any email or telephone call that follows from it.

It does not cover the records we keep about people who use our services. Anyone who joins the day centre or receives care at home is given a separate, fuller privacy notice as part of their care agreement.

What we collect through the enquiry form

The form asks for your name, email address and telephone number, and gives you a space to tell us what you are looking for.

Please be careful what you write in that box. People often mention a diagnosis, a recent fall or a hospital stay. You are welcome to, and it helps us reply usefully — but health information is treated as a special category under data protection law, and you should only include it if you are comfortable doing so. You can simply ring us instead on 01803 221420.

If you are enquiring on behalf of somebody else, only share what you need to in order to get an answer. We will ask their permission before going any further.

Why we use it, and on what basis

We use your details for one thing: to reply to your enquiry and, if you want to go further, to arrange a visit or an assessment.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — you have contacted us and expect a reply. Where a message includes health information, we rely on your explicit consent, given by choosing to write it, and we use it only to answer the question you asked.

We do not use enquiry details for marketing, and we do not sell or share them with anyone for their own purposes.

Who can see it

Enquiries are read by the directors and by staff who need to see them in order to reply.

Two suppliers handle the message on its way to us. Netlify hosts this website and processes form submissions. Our email provider delivers the notification and stores the message in our inbox. Both act on our instructions. Netlify is a US company and information may be processed outside the UK under the safeguards its terms provide.

How long we keep it

If an enquiry does not lead anywhere, we delete it once the conversation has clearly finished.

If it leads to a visit, assessment or service, the information becomes part of that person's care record and is kept under the retention periods set out in the care agreement.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no tracking of visitors across other sites. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch them.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you spoke to us first, so that we can put it right.
